Tamika Takes on the World’s Greatest Shave for a Cause Close to Her Heart

By Marlee Seaman

For Ray White Goulburn’s Tamika Straney, the decision to take part in the World’s Greatest Shave is about much more than losing her hair.

It’s personal.

Tamika’s Pop, Robert, is currently living with leukaemia, and seeing the impact the disease has had on him and their family has inspired her to turn a difficult experience into an opportunity to help others.

On 23 October 2026, Tamika will shave her head in support of the Leukaemia Foundation, raising funds and awareness for people living with leukaemia and other blood cancers, as well as the families supporting them.

“I wanted to do something that can make a difference,” Tamika says.

Over the coming months, Tamika will be fundraising with an ambitious goal of raising $10,000. She has already made an incredible start, raising $4,800 so far thanks to the generosity of family, friends, colleagues and the wider community.

Her goal is to help support the Leukaemia Foundation’s work, including vital research and support services for individuals and families affected by blood cancer.

For Tamika, the challenge is an opportunity to stand alongside her Pop while helping others who are facing similar journeys.

“I’m doing this to support families like mine and to help bring hope to those affected by leukaemia,” she says.

How you can support Tamika

Tamika will be continuing her fundraising journey over the coming months before the big shave on 23 October.

Whether you can make a donation, share her fundraising page or simply follow along and show your support, every contribution can help her get closer to her $10,000 goal.
